Well, I tried it with a 2000CP mantle a while ago, and it actually looked like it could work! I managed to get it in a decent shape, and best of all: it was large enough to not break when exposed to the rushing hot gasses. You can see that it's damaged at the base, but that was me hitting it with the fuel feed tubing as I attached it to its fitting. Otherwise, it's looking pretty good for a round soft mantle used as an upright one: It didn't light as much as I had expected, but that's probably because of the pressure regulator of the tank was set to the lower pressure of the Aladdin it was meant for. I will increase the settings to the higher pressure the larger lamps demanded next time I tset the lamp.
Stephan, yes! It's looking good for the future for these intermediate lamps. Just a pity that there isn't any larger mantles to be found to get the larger lamps going. It would have been fantastic to find a good mantle for the Autolux.
Hi Carlsson Thank a lot but my country we have paraffin and kerosene and it difference. you can see more the link as below. Difference Between Paraffin and Kerosene | Compare the Difference Between Similar Terms I try to turn on the lamp by kerosene. some time succeed it's not stable or maybe you have some recommend.
Ooh, those two last pictures are no good! You have an under-burn, i.e. the flame has "popped" in to the inner parts of the burner. It would have melted the burner if you kept it going. I actually melted a part of a Lux-burner after an under-burn. The first image is fair enough, as it seems. A bit on the yellow/orange side, but I think it would have made the mantle incandescent. You may have an enlarged jet. These lamps were made to run on what they called "Rysk fotogen" ("Russian Kerosene") here in Sweden, and it was actually a bit lower grade kerosene compared from the standard one. But regular kerosene is what you should use. The same as you would use in your normal lamps like e.g. Optimus 930, Radius 119 or Primus 1020, just to mention some common lanterns. The link you showed, and their explanation of paraffin sound much like their interpretation of paraffin is similar to what we call lamp-oil here in Sweden. A "kinder" kerosene for indoor use and some wick lamps.
Old thread that popped up but had missed it.But what a fantastic lamp! Have been a few years since the start of the thread, did you get hold of real mantles? we take it on Swedish to ”Vilken fantastisk lampa!”
