I bought this brass gem locally for $60 and have never seen anything quite like it.

It's construction is almost identical to a petromax without the rapid ignitor.

It has a globe made up of slender pieces of glass that is the most intriguing and I really want to see how it projects light

It has a logo on the top vent. The word master stamped on the generator and on the priming cup.

The check valve is shot and the needle is broken so I'm trying to match up replacement parts to get it burning.

    Welcome, @David Cannon

Neil McRae’s “Pressure Lamp Catalogue” has “Master” as a Pakistani brand (a Petromax copy). Do any of the stampings point to Pakistan? And is the fuel control block marked?

Using sections of glass for a globe is not uncommon on the sub-continent. It allows repairs without needing Pyrex or other strengthened glass.

    Cheers

Here are some additional photos. I'm not sure what "original" means. But there is an anchor emblem in the pressure gauge.

    Thank you, @David Cannon.

That provides new information about "Master" lanterns.

"Original" is merely manufacturing hype, in my opinion, though it is new information.

Are you able to see what the lettering, other than "Master" says on the top cap of the vent (hood)?

I have a couple of kerosene stoves of Indian origin where the burners also have Original cast into them.

Unfortunately not. I have tried rubbing pencil and crayons but cannot get any more of the details to become visible.

Hi there, I have a similar one of my grandfather. I believe its rare to see Pakistan manufactured pressure lanterns or stoves. Master is the company name, its a conglomerate now, but back in 1960s, they probably manufactured these, I don't know how many, but it better be very very rare (60 dollar is just a thrift price) reason being that Pakistan never got massive into manufacturing such products that used kerosene, as Pakistan had discovered natural gas, so we moved from wood stoves to natural gas stoves. On the other hand you will find Indian made lanterns and stoves as they did use it a lot. I will share pictures if anyone wants to see.

Do any of your "Master" lanterns have the same logo as I found on the top of this item?
