In my experience - those straight Gasoline generators on the Swiss Army Lanterns won’t run hot enough to decently run on Kero without that Preston Loop on the Genny.
It should be possible to dig up a used 250 CP kero Generator, although they are sold out most everywhere at the moment.
If you want - I can go look-see on some German sites to see whats available. Postage alone will most likely be around 15 USD or more.

    Cheers

The most simple solution is to add between 20% and 40% gasoline.

Thanks guys, but I've decided to leave the little Geniols alone. After all, they're what the Swiss Army specified so I might as well keep them original. Besides, why break up a set?

Henry, I tried running a 50-50 mix of kerosene and Coleman fuel in them once and they worked fairly well, but with a bit of pulsing. It seems straight gas works the best.

At this point I've ordered a Petromax clone......from China, God help me......just to have something to fiddle with before I take the plunge into more expensive (and better built) lanterns. In the meantime, I've been scrolling through this marvelous website and learning as much as humanly possible. The type of fellowship I find here is the same as many other sites for my other hobbies, just folks with a common interest and a boatload of helpful information!

I can't fault that philosophy. Still, lessons learned and a little more experience under the belt. Good luck with the Chinese clone, most of them do give a good light but quality control can sometimes be a bit lacking so even though it will be brand new, don't be surprised if you have to mess with it to get it eyeball-burning bright.
