Be it ever so humble (and small) this is the Irish branch of the international CPL Newark weekend. Preparations are under way for the lighting of this meagre collection of lamps in collaboration with all lamp owners who couldn't be there in person but in jealous spirit only.

@Scott D Fantastic pics.....I spent way too much time pouring over them with a lot of zooming in and out.
Gonna hafta call into the chemist tomorrow for something to fix this bout of acute envy I've acquired....

    What a very pleasant evening...
Well I'm afraid this is as close to Newark as I am going to get.
    Still, there's always next year.
Enjoy the rest of your night guys.............

Three days of bliss! Companionship, lamps, stoves, cooking and good weather.

    IMG_3141.jpeg

Speaking of cooking, I took my Outback Oven to rustle up bread and scones from store-bought mixes of the ‘add water’ (milk for the scones) type.

    IMG_3144.jpeg

An empty Duvel Belgian lager bottle provided just the right measure of water for the bread and half-full of milk for the scones. Emptying the bottle of its beer was the cook’s perk.

    IMG_3099.jpeg

The bread turned out well …

    IMG_3112.jpeg

    … and the scones too.

Paul Hedley’s Primus bowl fire of 1929 is an unrestored treasure, complete and just awaiting re-commissioning.

    IMG_3087.jpeg

Neither was Robert Hellawell’s exquisite Citroen type H van over-restored, but eminently driveable, and took the drive to-and-from Newark in its stride. No trailered shelf-queen this lady.

Heck, she even coped with my turn at the wheel in 1st gear around the field.

    IMG_3113.jpeg

    Gary, aka Wayland.

    IMG_3070.jpeg

Gary and his Texan pal Steve put on a fabulous display of wick lamps

    IMG_3127.jpeg

Neither was I ejected from their camp when I temporarily broke the peace of it with a spot of Svea rocket-stovery.

    IMG_3071.jpeg

Back in my camp, I gave the Svea full throttle.

    IMG_3125.jpeg

My Tillite Tilley lamp pre-heater wasn’t far behind on the decibel scale.

Though destroying the night’s calm, mine was a far more modest display than Gary’s and Steve’s, visually.

    IMG_3131.jpeg

Dave, aka Willie the Steam, set the bar high with his display as usual, his OXO stove with mesmerising burner and pre-heater flame patterns taking centre-stage.

    IMG_3134.jpeg

    Pete Sav’s lovely Blanchard lamp.

    IMG_3135.jpeg

Time to go home, part of my collection looking forlorn before stowing in the car.

Just to say thanks to everyone who bought one or more of Trevor's stoves and/or associated paraffinalia. The magnificent sum of £800.50p was raised for the British Heart Foundation - I'm still trying to figure out where the odd 50p came from! That's on top of £1100 from Trevor's lamps and lanterns in 2022 and £1095 from stove sales in 2023 so £3000 in total so far. :D/

Once again, many thanks!  8]

Only another 360 days to go for 2026... [-o<

I enjoyed it so much last year so I went along again.

My little display: Tilley R1 radiator, X246 'Pork Pie', X246B gold and red, Coleman 285-700 lantern, 442 stove and no.4 iron, Svea 106 stove, Soudogaz blowtorch powered by Camping Gaz C200 cartridge, mydisplay.jpg Lufo lantern with radio powered by heat from the flame (this attracted some interest) as well as a Freeplay FRP2 spring-driven radio made in South Africa for areas with no electricity.

Some more pictures from the gathering ...

Once again, thankyou to the organiser Ross aka spiritburner who made it despite recovering from surgery, and to David Shouksmith and his wife who helped me set up my tent, plus all the rest of you who were so friendly and welcoming to a relative newcomer like myself.
