Over the years I've had quite a number of brass founts with pin-holes due to corrosion from inside, possibly caused by water acting on impurities in the brass. Several Coleman lamps and lanterns, but also a Petromax and a few Tilleys. On naked brass it often shows up as small freckles or discoloured spots on the outside of the brass.

Just (IMHO) be a bit wary of tank 'liners' like POR. Most of them are just Epoxy resin based. Motorbike tank repairs 'may' be successful, and it looks like an easy fix BUT... it depends on meticulous preparation of the inside.
If you've ever dealt with one that has the chemical 'liner' delaminating, you'll steer well clear.
Surely silver-solder or brazing will seal up the pinholes, I've done this on several 'bike tanks very successfully.

I've had a Coleman bare brass fount with over a hundred hard-to-see pin holes. It was due to some external contamination factors during storage. Very likely due to cat urine sprays staying too long on the surface. Urine contains ammonia that can initiate stress corrosion in brass if left unchecked. Also possibly due a secondary corrosion resulting from my own action of disinfecting the area with Clorox bleach sprays later on. They are unlikely to be due to manufacturing defects.
I've never seen a fount having such seemingly endless amount of pin holes before that.
It was extremely tedious and frustrating to repair but I finally did it with soft solder. Since then, I kept the fount pressurized with fuel during storage, and it has been holding up well for many months.
