Just do a Google search for PTFE gas. PTFE or Teflon for gas is always in a yellow pack and should be marked as sutable for gas joints. The tape is thicker than water fitting tape and tends to be a bit more expensive. ::Neil::

In Oz it’s sold as PTFE gas tape or Teflon gas tape. It is yellow. The monster big green and red hardware store sells it as “Gastite” brand. My local hardware store sells it as “Bromic” brand.

We have white color for plumbing needs and yellow for gas/petro repairs over here. I've used the yellow for packing gland replacement, and recently used it on my Coleman L427 restoration to fix my pump assembly where it screwed into the font. Worked great!

You'll notice a difference in the price, too - about 5 times as expensive the last time I checked (years ago in B&Q)...

Just bought another 500 cp, Branded Anchor No.950. It needs a bit of work on it, it's got more leaks than Welsh Garden. I don't like the Lead seals, is there an alternative ? I will get some Photo's up when I can.

Looks like a standard O ring to me. I guess it needs to be of the right material for the temperatures.

    I don't think they'd sell them if they weren't.

@Henry Plews Sorry - I meant for sourcing locally - a lot of postage from Germany for one o-ring

Your local market tool counter / shop will have gas/oil resistant fitters tape , not much dearer
than plumbers ptfe . I paid about 2 pounds when I bought one , it may be colored white or yellow
but you can fee that it is much thicker.

Lead washers ... you can make your own easy from sheet lead and scissors . etc. All original
German Petromaxes have lead washers by the way and they work just fine . I often make lead
    washers.

@Fireexit1 my apologies, I hadn't thought of sourcing one locally. Yes, postage would make one O ring expensive though it would probably be the same price for 10 which would lessen the sting.

Been there, done that on more than one occasion, though if I'm feeling lazy and more concerned with getting the lamp working than originality, I've bolstered the old lead washer with PTFE tape. It may look a bit untidy but I can see what I'm doing.

Do you have enough pressure inside since the pump is rotten?

If you can't find a physical reason, blockage, stuck valve, bad needle or valve, you can solve the hunting or pulsing with some copper mesh rolled up and placed around the pricker rod inside the vaporizer.

Peerless 111, Petromax, Geniol, Luxor are all good, I've also had good mantles from German eBay seller anchorlampen. There will be others but I haven't used them.
