I just got my 1020 and of course the NRV won't budge. I read this post from beginning to end twice. I hope...*crosses fingers*...that I don't have the same ordeal as you. My novice skill level isn't that high to pull off a repair such as you did. I think I'll let it sit for a while longer. Sitting never damages anything and it still looks pretty! Right?
You might try this if you have a Dremel tool or similar. It took less than an hour to make. You will also need a Primus type pump cap and maybe a Primus non-return valve to get the slot width exact. Note that some newer non-original non-return valves require a slightly wider slot so if you use one of those to size the slot it may be a bit loose on old original nrv's. Home-made Primus NRV tool
Keep the faith my friend, these guys here known what they're talking about. Just take your time and don"t do what I did and mess the damn thing up! It's easy to do. By the way, the NRV on my Primus 1930 1001 appears to be leaking...Here we go again!!!!!
