Here are six images which were taken today and the first image shows and old winch which was used to haul a small boat up before the winter, the remains of such old winches can be found all over Shetland.
Wow, looks wonderful - here in Mid Wales, we have gale force winds and rain and sleet. Just battening down the hatches and waiting for this one to blow over. Still people in the NE of England still without power from last week’s storm! ☹️
This image shows the type of boat which used to be common in Shetland and this particular boat was used mainly for crab and lobster fishing, the image is from the 1970's so the colour is a bit odd, but in my opinion the effect is okay.
Wonderful photos. I have been to the Orkney's a few times. Shetland sadly remains on my bucket list rather than someplace I have been. Thank you!
Hi Jeff Thanks, I really enjoyed the ‘taste of Shetland’ ones :-) Has the Voar started yet at all? Cheers
You are welcome and yes, the first signs of the Voar/Spring started this week and this video may be of interest.
Yes, a fry of Mackerel is good and this video shows a traditional method for preserving fish through the winter months.
