The water looks inviting for SCUBA diving. Alas, those days are far behind me. My dry suit has disintegrated, and I've given away all of my vintage equipment. Any idea how the diving is around there? Cold, I'm sure
Quite funny that in a sad sort of way:- Old divers never die - their dry suit just disintegrates and they give away their equipment... Two for me:- Old Chemistry teachers never die - one day they just don't react; Old Registrars never die - eventually their ink dries up and they fail to register. OK, I suspect I may need to get my coat but it tickled me first thing on a Wednesday morning...
Hello AL, folk do go diving here, but I don't. The link below gives some information on the subject, Jeff. Diving | Shetland.org
Very good Tony! and if you look at page 2 of this post and scroll down the page there is a good photo of an otter shown there, Jeff.
These 3 photos show where they were filming in my area. The cottage which is shown in the second photo is derelict and they used it because one of the characters in this film is a recluse. They are filming in several parts of Shetland, Jeff.
The answer is no, the cottage which I was born in is about 3 miles further to the northwest. The current owner of that derelict cottage lives in Australia, but it has been sold at least 5 times in the last few decades, Jeff.
Hello Tony, many Shetlanders have moved away over the years and most went to New Zealand and Australia and America and Canada and to other parts of the UK.. The owner of that cottage has Shetland connections and has relatives in the area, Jeff.
Jeff, sorry if you've mentioned it already but are you on Mainland? I've only just found out about this, on Unst.... Unst Bus Shelter
Jeff... My wife and I do Geocahcing as a way of getting us out walking in the countryside. Part of that, if you want, is that you can release things called Travel bugs which people pick up in one place and drop off elswhere; the idea being that you can track where and how far they go... I only found out about the bus shelter as one of our travel bugs has ended up in a "Cache" near the bus shelter and it is mentioned in peoples logs
Watched the first part Jeff. Because they filmed during the simmer dim the colours are subdued once again! Anyway, enjoyed it but did anyone else find the main character a bit hard to make out? Could just be old age of course but I had the same problem with the first series.
No Wonder the vikings found their way to Shetland, since the sky is made of gold. So beautyfull Jeff - were you preparing a Tilley just before dusk then - since you didnt take the Photo yourself Claus C
This link shows a short silent film from the 1930's about peat cutting, but there is more to it than is shown in the film, Jeff. Full record for 'SCENES FROM A SHETLAND CROFT LIFE' (0980) - Moving Image Archive catalogue
