Stu Just read your post 51512 - are you really that gullible that you don't think that bloke will shaft you ? He does it all the time on Ebay. Makes me wonder where he gets his lamps from. There was a lampie here on CPL, that had dealings with this muppet in the past - Not that I am suggesting anything !!! Anyway, this lantern, link below, was the lantern he sold recently wasn't it ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RARE-TILLEY-LAMP-The-Model-OL50-is-a-500-cp-outdoor-donut-lamp-/321685332298?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4ae5f0a14a
Hi Ian I did block him as another bidder , but as i said he snuk under with a different name i now have most of his alias's blocked , trouble is he can open any no of new I.D's though it looks like he didn't do too well on that OL , obviously his past is catching up on him Stu
Now he's selling a lamp using the picture from an auction house website. The thing that's confusing me is the auction house hasn't sold the lamp yet and doesn't until the 29th. No wonder it's untested. Edit: it's gone now, perhaps he felt guilty.
I don't think he's anticipating winning (or even bidding) for that lamp. My suspicion is that he's just using an existing photograph to illustrate a lamp he already owns and is now selling. But who knows what cunning stunts he's capable of...
I noticed a new eBay seller called sall_bril, based in Boston, Lincolnshire which is his/their general location. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TILLEY-tilly-HEATER-LAMP-/261822909782 Might be entirely innocent but, then again, it could be a new alias...
You could be right David, the description and the grammar is very similar (bad) to that used by our friend. Look at the completed listings there's a royal daylight stove sold for £1.04 but is now being sold as part of a job lot. The one that gives the game away for me is the pair of Kl80s. £150 each from Stavely Antiques if anyone is interested 15th item down on the link. Can't be the antique shop selling them on eBay, their 200 miles away from Boston.
I wonder the Royal daylight stove I never received off 'Statelands123' didn't have the pump neither I arranged it with Ross to send me his pump for me to duplicate when the time come Only it never did
it would be interesting if all that have been ripped off by him , visited him as a collective group kerry
Wasn't there a pumpless Royal Daylight, Coleman table lamp with turban font and a British Army stove on eBay over the past couple of days... Edit: Here we are:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261823058855?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT The seller is sall_bril - now there's a co-incidence...
I've been doing my inspector clouseau impression again. Take a good look at the table that lot David's linked to is on. Now Look here, picture 6 shows my point best. Tell me that isn't the same table popping it's head up just outside the shed window bottom right, quite close to the hedge as well. Time for another identity.
Zat is vair you are wrong, M'sieur* - eet ees pictchurr numbair five... *yes, I know, that was Hercule Poirot...
I think you've accidently turned your spell check off David. Definitely picture 6 on my iPad, 5 shows more but 6 is more in focus. But it is the table right? 8)
I had this out with ebay very recently when the winner of an auction of mine simply didn't pay and refused to answer messages. The buyer had 9 feedbacks, all positive (green) but the actual comments from sellers were negative feedback, as the person never pays. I told ebay that it was ridiculous that this person is allowed to remain on ebay. They refused to discuss it as to not violate the deadbeats privacy. I was shocked that after doing it the ebay way of opening a case then awaiting a response that I knew would never come, (12 days all up before I could re-list), I then couldn't leave negative feedback! It wasn't a couple of dollars, it was $500 for a camera lens I had listed.
Reading this thread is like watching a horror movie - every 2 minutes there is a new thrill. But trying to understand what this guy Derek is really guilty of, based on the many comments above: Shill bidding, together with some relatives Have not shipped a stove that was prepaied Returned a broken stove after having complained about it Being listed under several eBay user names This is of course bad, but did anybody buy from him and get what was bought? And sell to him and get the payment without further ado? Is he selling things he doesn't own, as is suggested in the thread? Stolen things, non-existing things...? I am asking all these stupid questions because he is very visible on eBay with various lamps that could otherwise be difficult to find. So it is tempting to bid on them (and I have done so already, without winning). What could I expect would happen if I actually did win one of his auctions? With other sellers I have been met with a cold shoulder and/or a degrading comment when trying to tell them that one of their listings were wrong - I assumed that this was some kind of cultural barrier, a sort of British pride, saying that a Swede should not try to judge them on their knowledge of Tilley lamps. It never occurred to me that this should be seen as fraudulent behavior. Well, all I am trying to say here is really, to play the devils advocate, that when the mob is in a lynch mood, then suddenly everything the suspect is doing seems suspicious. Could it be that this is simply a man who made some mistakes and didn't understand the rules completely but actually is buying and selling to his best knowledge, like most other eBay users?
