:rage: These shenanigans (partially) spoil Christmas for me every year. Is there any way to stop seeing this thread? - seriously... [-o<

    Obviously, Derek - I don't.

However, it doesn't take much thought to realise that 'looking' is not the same as 'seeing' and, unfortunately, every time someone posts, I get a notification which reminds me about it... ](*,)

    @David Shouksmith

You can turn off your notification setting for all, or particular, threads...

    Cheers

Thanks, Tony, but how do you do that? :-k

I have tried and I'm sure it's obvious but it's eluding me at the moment - d'oh! :)

Even easier to just "Unwatch" the thread directly when reading it.
Just go to the top of any page in the actual topic and click "Unwatch thread".
Confirm in the pop-up, and the text will change to "Watch thread" and the notifications will stop coming.

Thanks Tony, Christer and Ross. The strange thing is, I'm not watching any threads - in fact, I never have because there's no need to; I read 'em all (except this one which gets my ******g goat, obviously...)

Merry Christmas to you and yours, also, Ross!

Depends on how you have your preferences set up. Starting or replying to a topic can add it to your watch list & endanger Christmas

The operative word being 'partially' of course - clearly there are thousands of weightier matters going on in the World...

    All the best!

Aah - the notifications. I used to get innumerable emails on another forum until I discovered the stop notifications button - and it wasn't so obvious either. Almost as bad as the consanguinuity.

The marrying of first cousins. Frowned upon in some cultures. First heard of it in the film 'The Bridal Path':
The Bridal Path (film) - Wikipedia. Good comedy romp with some great characters.

For once, he actually survived last year.

I am pleased that this thread has been resurrected (again, again, again) because I had forgotten about the lovely Sara.

The German sense of humour - it's no laughing matter. Sorry, Jean, what were you saying..? :D

Anyway, I've got a phobia about German sausage - I fear the wurst..

Yes, sausages are quite different. Me too, wouldn't eat one from other side of the channel.
great sense of humor over there anyhow, if we look at other educated nonsense, e.g. Monty Python, etc.
    Welcome in 2019.

Here we go again. Yet another year has passed, and the goat is under construction.
I wasn't planning on putting the link up until he was finished, but since David brought him up in another thread, I think I post it anyway, even if he is without his head this far :

    Link
You need to scroll down a bit.

    At noon today:

I think the innoguration is on first sunday advent. This is just a kick start.
Right now he seems to be getting his head in place. Or parts of it.
