Well it still needs an overhaul & a respray, but here it is as it stands now. The parts have been sourced from all over during 19 & the 2020 lockdown, I think it’s ok but I’m sure I’ll be put right if it’s not. Cheers Malcolm
Your right Gary, something there isn’t right, but the burner is fully engaged onto the top of the vapouriser. As I said parts from all over. The cock is fully screwed into the fount, the frame is on right, but the hood won’t go any further down. It’s as though the frame is too short
I’m assuming you haven’t got the longer 169 vaporiser in? Otherwise I’m not sure, something isn’t marrying up quite right. It’s surly got to be between the burner and vaporiser...
It may well be a later x246 frame on a pork pie tank which I do believe has slightly different length legs than a pork pie frame. Regards ian
Thanks Ian, if the guardsman frame is different to the pork pie model that is most likely the problem. I’ll look into that a bit more
@malcolm race I can't get at a pork pie X246 with that frame but here are images of the frame from a regular Guardsman. Note where I have the end of the ruler in the first image.
I've just been out to my shed to measure the cages, guardsman as Henry shows is six and three quarter inches, pork pie cage is seven inches, hope this helps. Regards Ian.
Thanks again Henry, yes my frame matches those measurements, I reckon it should be at least 1/4” taller. Which Ian has confirmed. I’ve literally just won another on the bay of evil for a very good price, fingers crossed if will be right, I’ll report when it arrives. cheers Malcolm
Very interesting, I have been playing with some of those cages trying to get enough bits together to build a pork pie lantern. Now I know what to check for.
Well the new frame came today, and it’s right this time. The hood sits down properly, and with a deep glass in, the pre-heater fits under it much easier. Happy days
