Here is what i believe to be a pre 1910 Blanchard 1600 500cp donut lamp.
The paperwork ad is from october 1910 but i suspect my lamp differs slightley due to being a bit earlier.
The lamp has the vented cast iron housing which later lamps dont have same as the ad
but the spirit hole only has a brass door not the cast iron plate as in this ad,the top has a top ring not a later style hook like the ad and believe me the hook is much better to hang up.
Now the jet is different to any i have seen on a blanchard its brass with a steel slotted insert without a pricker guide we see on later lamps.
Now on the side is a plate saying manufactured by the Gas economising company now this company went into liquidation in 1912 after buying the patent for the blanchard lamps spme time previous.
All things considered a lamp i am lucky to a have, it had no reflector or globe so i fettled and made some thing to fit as best i could and its now a good runner once more dispite the age.

    What a magnificent lamp!

I'm interested to see that the operating pressure for this lamp is 15 to 18 lbs.

    Best regards

    Tony

Amazing the lamp survived so long in such good condition. A real prize.

That is a very nice find. Also the leaflet shows three Blanchard models I didn't have listed so thanks for sharing that. ::Neil::

Wow, what a find. Like Tony, I find the relatively low operating pressure interesting.

I put 15lb pressure in the lamp to light it and the mantle did run a bit orange at first.
But once that cast iron warmed up it was much brighter light
The tank got well warm in the garage and pressure soon was about 20lb which seems right for these burners.
You can hear them sucking air in like a roar
    Cheers pete

Just out of curiosity I noticed the lamp cost £6 17shillings in 1910 well a internet calculator puts that at nearly £900 in today's money expensive lamps even with today's earnings
    Cheers pete
