Vapalux handlamp based on the Vapalux 300 lantern. It was used by the military during the second world war. The hood carries the goverment crow's foot and the year 1943. A lot cruder in construction to the earlier handlamp but nerveless very sought after. Even rarer..instruction card.

Ian, I am a relatively new member of the group but have had a (growing) collection of Vapalux and Bialaddin lamps for a good number of years now.
I also bought your book some years ago, and I've found it an invaluable source.....
I've just bought a 1943 HD 44 in a Tilley Box, just as described in your book, the chap who owned it said he'd been given it in 1965, so long term ownership!
He added that he last used it in 1975 in Afghanistan, so I'm about to start cleaning it and fitting new seals, though it seems in reasonably good condition.
Do you know where I could obtain a copy of the original instruction card as per your illustration?
Also, I recently bought a blue enamelled two piece hood which I note you mention is a rarity, it now adorns one of my better chrome 300Xs.

    Best wishes,

    Peter Walker.
