Here is a lamp that dispite my best efforts for last 20+ years i have never managed to aquire one then out of the blue 2 have found there way to me! One is boxed and dated feb. 1940 serial no.3541 And one unboxed and more used condition jan 1940 serial 3488. This makes me wonder if 53 lamps is a months production certainly not big numbers apart. I have seen a advert for these calling them a utility lamp for contractors, farmers, and railways from 1929 but its fairly sure as these turn up all over europe as well they was for military use. Neither one worked so some fettling was required prickers broke in the jets and one had no wire guard so i made one up for it. The one with the brassy colour is in the box or more like a crate, the copper coloured one is more used and weathered like. Any way some pictures to look at. Cheers pete
Glorious, Pete. Sounds like a previous user hasn’t been following the Do’s and Don’t’s for using the pricker as the instructions you posted recently advised. John
Hi john I dont think many of the users of blanchards ever used the needle correctely john. Out of all the ones i have had very few had clear jets. If the jet was clear something else would be damaged but its the way with these lamps. The operating instructions i posted came in the box with these lamps, they are something i had never seen before myself as well Cheers pete
