As it reached me it, the brown paint stripped from the tank and globe cage, with a dark blue cap to the hood, so a mismatch, as outlined HERE. Either a repaint in brown (with or without finding a brown enamel cap to suit) or painting tank and globe cage cream were initial thoughts. I didn’t fancy brown or cream and opted for navy blue to complement the cap and as a pleasing colour, to my eye at least, in its own right. I had a slotted collar that I preferred over the bras ‘solid’ one but it was in steel and I wanted the upright rods to be brass, left unpainted. The outcome was THIS project to replace their steel equivalent. Steel components separated. Brass and steel components before assembly. Rivetted at the top ring. Silbrazed terminals at the bottom end. I’ll add fuel for a light-up when it gets dark. John
I realise now from seeing the Vapalux lit why I favoured the slotted collar, it’s for the patterned light effect on the tank, and on the Vapalux the slots echo those in the hood, unlike its Bialaddin 300X equivalent.
Yes nice work and a great idea with the brass tube there I had forgotten about the blue enamel reflectors
@podbros It was a white enamel reflector that I used the same paint on (upper surface) as the tank. It doesn’t get hot enough in use for the paint to degrade.
Ah, yes i see ! That is a nice shade of blue perhaps leaning towards an agm blue.. only going by what ive seen on here though :-) thanks p
