A military lantern of Radius 115 with the plastic cup for the spares. Focus on share Collection I call that: touched yesterday, building today and shadow future
This is the standard Swedish military 115 for the medical corp. You can see the three crowns that all their military gear is marked with and then the cross which indicates the medical corp. I have no idea how long the 115 was in production but it couldn't have been too long. It started about 1937 and probably lasted into the 1940s. I have never seen a version like the red top 119 so I guess it didn't make it to the late 1940s. My guess is that the military ordered a big batch after WW2 started. I'm assuming that the blanking plug for the quick starter was fitted at the factory, so there must have been at least two batches. You find them with the quick starter, which must have been the first batch. Then you find them without the quick starter which must have been a later batch after they found out how hopeless the quick starter was. Another possibility is that they had a large batch sent back to the factory and modified as there was no need to order a 115 without the quick starter. They could just order a 119. Anyway, you see more of these without the quick starter than with it.
